adult and baby fall into rhythms.

I now see your earlier post. I can buy this as the origination of rhythmic exchanges. My overall thesis is that we humans have developed instincts that help improve group cohesion. Fundamentally, cooperation within the group improves the probability of its survival. So in a way, cooperation is in our genes. Conversely, we have instinctive taboos against preying on other members of the group. Taken to the extreme, this predation could destroy the group.

Those elements in our behaviors that bond and create lasting cohesion within the group propagate through time by having had successful tribal values. I think music has a very powerful bonding feature – especially when it is shared communally.
