Mike,
Your son is perceptive and wise.

The ability and willingness to make key decisions in a timely manner separates great leaders from others.

Like the finest leaders before him, some of GWB's best decisions have not been perfect, however they did lay a strong foundation from which changes could be made as the situation developed and that is key.

There are sins of omission and sins of commission. GWB took action when action was called for; when the situation demanded action. Some of that action may not have been perfect...but it was done in a way to allow for rapid change as necessary. That is leadership.

Kerry proposes to commit sins of omission. He proposes following the clintonesque do nothing doctrine. The unpardonable sin for a leader is to do nothing when a situation demands decisive action.

I believe the decision to take out a ruthless dictator who slaughtered and continued to slaughter hundreds of thousands of people using wmd's, guns, knives and the most hideous instruments of human torture was leadership at its best.

Kerry's proposal to do nothing in such situations will not stand the test of time. Kerry's long history of waffling or changing is not because of changing circumstances. He waffles to pander to different factions within his party for personal gain

Kerry's top priority is peace.
GWB's top priority is liberty.

There is a helluva difference.
