I feel that a better idea is diverting some of our welfare money, and starting a youth core, similar to what they do in Germany.

Because not all people are fit for Armed service (I was turned down by the 3 branches I applied for because of medical concerns) there needs to be another outlet. A youth core that spends the 2 years after high school, and before college learning a trade, and serving the country is the best bet IMO.

These kids could be trained in a valid trade, something high school does not do. Networks, electronics repair, hell, general office work are all trades that we need in this country.

And, as they do it, they can be trained in what it means to be an American. A DETAILED review of American history and civics, and the facts why we fought the Revolution and Civil wars, instead of a one semester high school class.

Plus, needed education in responsibility. Kids are not responsible anymore, mainly due to the ideals of the hippie generation.

It ain't gonna happen, but I can dream.
