Don't underestimate the politics in the Sudan. I have seen many Reuters news stories covering the problems in the Sudan. They are real. Would you put up $1 x 10^9 for a project where an act of sabotage to undermine the government could be to destroy the financing for the country (oil)? Arakis says that the pipeline will be underground, but the pumping stations won't be. IMO a deal will be between many investors that will limit the potential loss for each. The BP rumor is neat though.
