Wow. That's a job I would never want...great story. I have a "rat" story also: We were on a Westpac run and we had Navy Seals onboard for some special ops stuff we were doing. Anyway, we had to pull into Guam for some maintenance. I was standing on the pier there in Guam and I see these 3 Navy Seals standing around this trash can and making a commotion. This perked my interest, so I walked on down the pier to get a better look. Well, these three guys had the biggest wharf rat I ever saw trapped in this trashcan, and the thing was trying to jump out, but they were smacking it back in. Finally, one of the Seals reached in and pulled this thing out (almost as big as a cat) by the scruff of it's neck...I'll never forget it, it was hissing like a snake or something. Then the dude BIT IT on the back, breaking its back and killing it! The other guys thought this was the funniest damn thing they ever saw...I just stood there dumbfounded. I couldn't believe it. Needless to say, I stayed away from them for the rest of the time they were onboard.
