I worked for Powersoft for 4 yrs and know this industry pretty well. ie- I helped dig Gupta's grave...and owned their stock at the same time! Hypocritical. Microsoft Visual Basic will be increasingly more compatable with their SQL Server product. You will NOT see Microsoft buying Gupta. Gupta's architecture is pretty old at this point, remember this was the FIRST client/server application development environment. Followed by knowledgware, Powersoft, Bachman, Easel and THEN Microsoft. VB will get there. Eventually.

Selling Centura outside of their dwindling customer base is going to be an uphill battle. Powersoft is the dominant C/S development tool and there are BIG new threats that weren't here in Gupta's hayday like Borland's Delphi and Forte. Sure, Gupta still has good technology (SQL Base is a great product too.) but I don't see a lot of long term in this play. That's just my opinion!
