voting against your own self interest makes so little sense

Probably 95% of people who vote don't have a clue about what they're voting for - nevermind against.

At age 21, I was eager to vote because I wanted to vote against Nixon when he was running for governor of California. There were also a number of initiatives on the ballot that I didn't have a clue about, but thought I should vote anyway. I read the brief descriptions and made a guess. I was so mad at myself afterward that I made a promise that if I didn't understand the issue, then I couldn't vote.

I think people vote for who they think looks good, has a good haircut, who has the better personality, etc. I doubt that any of them understand anything about the issues or what they're really voting for.

Then there's those who believe they're gonna get free lunch, free housing, free clothes, free gas, free cars. Whoopie!! Let the good times roll.
