Denso (Japan) To Build Autoparts Plants In India JPR: This just in from Tokyo,interesting to see new investments still coming into the country. ================================================ Sept.21,98 TOKYO (Nikkei)-Denso Corp. will construct two factories in India by the end of 1999 to produce auto engine parts and car air-conditioner parts such as condensers. Total investment is set to reach 10 billion yen, with completion slated for summer 1999. The air-conditioner parts factory will be built in Bangalore in southern India, where Toyota Motor Corp. (7203) is set to start assembling cars with local business group Kirloshar. Denso plans to tie up with the Kirloshar group on the air-conditioner parts production, establishing the joint venture by the end of this year. The venture would supply the Toyota-Kirloshar plant which will start manufacturing at the end of next year. The engine parts plant will be constructed in the New Delhi area. Denso will supply parts to Maruti Udoyog Ltd., an affiliate of Suzuki Motor Corp., (7269), and hopes to expand the business to other foreign automakers investing in India, including Honda Motor Corp. (7267) and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW). Aisin Seiki Co. (7259) is also considering setting up a joint venture to make car door parts in the Bangalore area with an estimated investment of 500 million yen.
