Shopping Web Site Offers Free MSN Internet Access

SEATTLE (Reuters) - A new online shopping club announced a promotion Monday that offers free
Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq:MSFT - news) Internet access service.

Under the limited-time offer, customers who sign up for MyShoppingClub.com will get Microsoft's MSN
Internet access free with the price of membership, which is $59 for one year, or $99 for two years.

That is far cheaper than the regular MSN price of $19.95 a month for unlimited access.

The MyShoppingClub.com service will provide discounts and incentives to shop at selected affiliated web sites.

The deal is being offered by Lan Plus Inc., a Los Angeles-area computer maker that also offers a free computer to customers
who pay in advance for three years worth of MSN Internet access. Lan Plus plans to launch the MyShoppingClub site soon.

MSN has been considering cutting the price of access in its battle with America Online Inc. (NYSE:AOL - news), far and
away the leader with nearly 20 million subscribers to its two main services, an estimated 10 times Microsoft's total.

Offers of free Internet service have been gaining in popularity, led by NetZero Inc., now among the top providers with 1.2
million subscribers.

Another provider, Surfree.com, announced a deal Monday that allows users to reduce their monthly fee on a sliding scale that
ranges from $14.95 a month to zero, depending how much extra advertising they are willing to view.
