I thought each brokerage house has its own rules. Remember, the options don't really expire until noon Saturday. There is some risk when the closing price normal hours is below exercise price, that new will push the stock higher after hours, or if someone thinks there may be big move Monday, that you get called even if price a little below the strike price. Also, if close is 50-1/8, there may not be automatic exercise--depends on the house.
