From the Globe and Mail Globe says Bid.Com strikes deal with Chapters Bid.Com International Inc BII Shares issued 38,963,434 Apr 28 close $24.85 Thu 29 Apr 99 In the News Also Chapters Inc (CHP) The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, April 29, edition that Bid.Com International is jumping into the on-line book auction business through an agreement with Chapters. The Globe's Mark Evans writes that Bid.Com says the deal will see the creation of a new book category on its Web site and provide an easy way for Bid.Com's customers to move to the Chapter's Web site to purchase merchandise. Chapters has also agreed to spend an unspecified amount to advertise on Bid.Com's site. The agreement is being pitched as a benefit for both sides: It will provide Bid.Com with a way to enhance business-to-consumer sales while giving Chapters the ability to attract book buyers as it battles rivals such as Indigo Books & Music and Amazon.Com.
