I do agree that the browser should've been given away from moment 1. But. That's how the company started and they needed an income. If I recall correctly, the browser counted for about 33% of income at some point. Healthy. If it wasn't for MS' giving away IE, things might've been different. Worst of all, IMHO, if MS was the first to put out a browser, we'd be paying about $200, under the argument that, QUOTE this is what the customer wants.. blah blah blah. END_QUOTE the usual microsoft convolutions.
morale of the story.. true but sad.. Gates is a most calculating, vindicating, coldly plan executer, forward looking, shrewed genius bizman.. Nothing more.
