Jill, setting up the categories is key, but don't let that scare you. If you decide to re-organize those, you can do it at any time. So take it one step at a time. (When you rename a categor or change its Tax information, its retroactive to all the transactions that use that category.)

I do my own taxes, using TurboTax, so I don't use an accountant. However, I know several that do and their accountant tells them exactly what they need. Some do an electronic file, others run a "Tax Summary Report".
