I'm not sure that is what happened. If Trump made an example of ZTE to show the US might in order to win concessions from China, then it was an interesting move. It remains to be seen how it plays out, and from where I stand there are better ways of achieving the same ends. But if he delivers the right results, then he deserves credit for it. On the other hand, if it flops, he deserves blame for a moronic act. I am just withholding my judgment on this one.
