Companies pay dividends for a variety of reasons, ex. - To facilitate the movenment of profits directly to shareholders, which provides income. Thus as a shareholder, you receive cashflow without having to sell the stock. If you notice, many cyclical stocks do this. I wonder if mgmt. feels that you can invest the cash better than they can in some situations. HMMM! :-)
