Not a coincidence - I have been waiting for this for about 3 years!
Noise cancellation/echo supression is a major tech problem for
conferencing products, like Intel's Proshare. Technology also requires lots of MIPS/MOPS, which can be supplied by Intel MMX. So the conferencing apps require the technology, the echo suppresion technology requires the mips/processing power, which in turn furthers the processing power requirements for the desktop, which sells more MMX chips.......

Also, with companies moving away from individual offices to cubicles and workgroup environments, small area echo suppresion is becoming a real requirement. I think the "cone of silence" will be a reality in a few years, based on NCTI technology and Intel driving the need for more mip intensive apps.
