We are getting cable internet service in our area and I have the cable people coming at the end of this week for this purpose.

We have two computers - one has an ethernet card and the other does not. The computers are situated about 10 feet from each other with a wall separating them. The cable company as part of its installation for which they are charging $10 will provide a network card and will advise regarding hooking it up.

Here are my questions:

What are the merits of going wireless?
If we do go wireless what equipment/peripherals will I need to hook up the two computers to obtain internet service?
I read somewhere that the D-Link AirPlus Enhanced 2.4GHz Wireless Router and the D-Link Ethernet 10BaseT Cable Modem would be good for this setup - any thoughts on this?
Is the installation for wireless more or less complicated than a wired set up?
Is a wireless set up more/less stable than a wired set up in terms of maintaining an internet connection?
The cable company informed me that while they had no problem hooking up two computers for internet service for the same basic charge, if I wanted to access the internet on both at the same time, one of the computers would need a separate IP address for which there would be an additional charge of $7. Is this, in fact, the case or is it just a way for the cable company to charge more money?
Is there anything else that I should be aware of before I embark on this "adventure"?
Is there any site or links which I could review to become more educated regarding this whole process?

Thanks for any and all help and advice that you can offer me.
