PSC to increase its flash production for Renesas
Hans Wu, Taipei; Carrie Yu, DigiTimes.com [Thursday 19 May 2005]

Powerchip Semiconductor Corporation (PSC) plans to allocate more than 10% of its capacity at its first 12-inch wafer fab by this June to produce AG-AND NAND flash for Renesas Technology, according to DRAM makers.

Confirming they have received 1Gb NAND flash chips from PSC to be delivered for Renesas, the downstream makers said PSC will allot a monthly capacity of 5,000 wafers in June for Renesas, up from 3,000 this month.

The planned capacity allotment is about 50% more than PSC president Brian Shieh predicted in April.

In addition to the 1Gb NAND flash orders, PSC may start producing 4Gb NAND flash by the end of the year for Renesas and may also supply Renesas with its lower-density products such as 2Gb NAND flash chips, DRAM makers said.
