Re: What I don't understand is why Europe gives him so much sympathy. He pushes propaganda that says Christianity is a fraud, uses suicide bombers to blow up women and kids, and they still give him sympathy. Why are only the Jews expected to fight by the rules?

As Israel's largest trading partner, I guess the EU feels strong enough to tell Israelis a thing or two about the Middle East... fair enough, isn't it? Hence, the fraud, if any, lies with the media spiel about Europe's allegedly pro-Arab bias --I mean, just follow the money: if the EU were anti-Israel for good, it'd have pulled the plug on its economic ties with Israel long before now....

Besides, keep in mind that all European big cities (Milan, Rome, Marseille, Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Hamburg, London,...) are comprised of 20% to 50+% (Marseille) of immigrants --coming from Muslim North Africa or Turkey (or Pakistan). So it's understandable that Europe's politicos scramble to conceal the EU's economic support of Israel from their disenfranchised immigrants while, at the same time, posturing as relentless critics of Israel... (Not to speak of the disastrous impact an overt pro-Israel tilt would have in the Middle East proper: if both Europe and the US stand by Israel then who's left on the Palestinians' side?? Like it or not, Europe HAS to play the "devil's advocate")

ISRAEL, EU INCREASE TRADE

Trade between Israel and the European Union grew significantly in the past three months, according to figures released by the Central Bureau of Statistics on Thursday, THE JERUSALEM POST, reported. In the first quarter, exports to the EU surged six percent in annual terms after decreasing five percent in the latter half of last year. Excluding diamonds, exports to the EU totaled $1.83 billion. Last year Israel exported some $6.9 billion to Europe while importing $11.8 billion. Currently, the EU is Israel's largest trading partner accounting for 32 percent of exports and 41 percent of imports.

As for Arafat's anti-Christian stance, just remember that his wife, Soha Arafat, is Christian and that Arafat never misses the Christmas mass in Bethleem...
