Morning Poet,

Good question. It has always been a precursor to war that the religious leaders (whether shamans, medicine men, or priests) bless the endeavor and enlist the (hopefully) superior services of their special God. We have been watching these preparations.

On the one hand, there are many in the secular and religious community who feel this is pointing to a God not their own. But on the other, at such times as these, we all recognize the need for people to feel comforted and motivated by a greater ideal--one that will justify the human sacrifice that war necessarily brings. Sad times such as these require people to be more flexible, I suppose, than they would be in peacetime.

I think, as well, that the song expresses the loss and the steeliness that comes before anger and rage. One wonders if the admin is attempting to curb the anger somewhat by this choice?

I gotta get to bed. Hope your day goes well.
