Good morning, Mq... I think it may be easy to accept the seeming simplicity of the libertarian argument. But, say, what about allowing CocaCola to sell the "original" Coke, the one laced with the real thing? Can we sell it to kids, or only by prescription?... :)

Now, plant poisons is the easy part. Let's go futuristic for a minute. For example, what about injections - maybe in the not so distant future - of programmable nanobots, which would create for the user an unlimited choice of most agreeable "realities"? Of course, someone will find a way to "weaponize" those little pleasure givers, potentially converting the user into a "sleeper" agent for whoever is in control.

It's not hard to imagine a multitude of possibilities which would make the negatives resulting from the use of plant poisons appear mild and... outdated.

Reductio ad absurdum may not be the most elegant way of proving a point, but my point is quite simple - If sooner or later we'll have to draw a line anyway, perhaps we should simply leave it - more or less - where it is right now.
