If you don't need Windows to run legacy Windows software, you don't need Windows.

I think that's a future-tense statement, one that, in particular, those former Mac pioneers at Eazel are trying to drag into the present. Those are some smart guys addressing a genuine problem and VC's are throwing money at them.

Right now, Windows itself is too much for a lot of users to handle. Dropping a Wabi-like layer on top of Linux so that Quicken runs, isn't going to make Linux any easier to use. You can perfect Wabi all you want with Windows source code. Most people who need Windows now will still need Windows.

I would agree with the substance of your statement after Linux has gone quite a few more steps toward getting transformed into the soul of a new web machine.
