I think some of the animosity is pure jealousy. Women who have raised families and basically given up on high powered careers, see themselves as lacking in motivation when faced with such a relatively young woman who has accomplished as much as Governor Palin has, while simultaneously taking care of a large family.

Right on the mark. You can see that on SI. Women who couldn't achieve one tenth what she has bad mouth her. And the reason for their emotional visceral hatred is so transparent.

Sarah Palin has one of those remarkable abilities to set her own rules and say to those around them, "sorry, I have kids to raise, and yes they are with me" instead of falling into the trappings of corporate norms.

Women can't have it all? Career, family, good looks that last through the child birth years, plus a handsome husband. She has it all and makes it look easy. Its a wonder more women don't hate her. I guess you could consider a woman's reaction to Sarah Palin a mark of her character.
