"Wouldn't the world and the Kurds be better of if the Kurdish part of present day Turkey were instead part of greater Kurdistan?"

The Turks don't think so. And they seem willing to fight to support their opinion. They've certainly been willing to arrest, jail, torture and kill. Not necessarily in that order or with all the steps.

Yeah, well, the world is not determined by the Turks. I don't know the history of the Kurdish part of Turkey all that well, but if it is primarily Kurdish and the local population would rather be a part of the new "greater Kurdistan" than in present day Turkey, fine with me.

What would Turkey really lose by letting the Kurdish part secede? Does it have oil or something? If it's just their Turkish pride, tough luck.
