??? Of course it does. If there is a non-Iraqi manning a checkpoint, and an Iraqi replaces him, that's one non-Iraqi you can theoretically bring home. Every coalition member that is doing the "policing" work should have been replaced with an Iraqi a LONG time ago.

After all my notes on this, I just don't think you understand this topic. Manning checkpoints does not bring security to iraq.

But Kurdistan (from what little outsiders like me know) appears to be the easiest salvageable portion of present day Iraq. Turning it into its own country would (I think) be well received by the Kurds.

Sure, but it would set up a confrontation with the Turks immediately.
