this is just not true and I don't believe that a CPQ service person said that (if so he should be fired). Shawn also had an excellent post on why the OEMs and SW vendors bat the ball back and forth.

CPQ leans more to supporting SW on the assumption that the brand identity in the customer's mind is presario, not MSFT, but past a certain point it has to go back to MSFT if the customer did not buy the OS from CPQ.
