Only the government owns land and if you stop paying property taxes which is only rent money, the government will evict you.

Reminds me of the Henry George single tax theory. George held that holds that "everyone owns what they create, but that everything found in nature, most importantly land, belongs equally to all humanity." Link

I go along with the concept that you can "own" what you have access to. This is based on the concept that "property" is a derivative of your life. Since land is not a derivative, you can't own it. But you can own access to it.

You can't get to the moon, you can't own it. If I can get to oil 1000 feet below the land your house sits on, and you can't, I can own the oil.

First one there gets the property right, and can then sell it.
