COSN,
CoSine Communications' IPSX 3500 Awarded Best of Show at NetWorld + Interop 2001 Tokyo REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Jun 18, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- CoSine Communications, Inc., (Nasdaq: COSN chart, msgs), a leading provider of managed, network-based IP Service Delivery Platforms for Service Providers, announced today that its IPSX 3500(TM) was named "Best of Show" at NetWorld+Interop 2001 held June 6-8 in Tokyo, Japan. CoSine was recognized in the Infrastructure Product for Carriers category.
CoSine first introduced its compact and highly scalable IPSX 3500, an extension of their IPSX(TM) family of service processing switches in April of this year. Standing at a compact 13 rack units high and supporting a combination of Service Blades and SHARC(TM) Service Generators, the IPSX 3500 is optimized to drive service delivery closer to the subscriber through deployment in the Service Provider's local/metro network.
"We are thrilled to receive this award and the recognition is a further validation of CoSine's network-based platform strategy and of value-added IP services as a strategic business tool for Service Providers," said Dean Hamilton, chairman and CEO of CoSine. "CoSine specifically designed the IPSX 3500 to provide a cost-effective and powerful solution for Service Providers that want to accelerate the delivery of value-added IP services to business subscribers outside of areas served by larger POPs."
Designed for operation in Central Offices (COs) or small Points of Presence (POPs), the IPSX 3500 extends CoSine's suite of high-value, managed services to Service Providers searching for a solution that leverages their existing networks while adding value to their basic access service. For smaller, non-fiber-based Service Providers, the IPSX 3500 introduces new services into their product portfolio previously available only from a larger Service Provider.
The award committee, comprised of a variety of authorities of IT development in Japan, included the vice-chairman of the Japan Internet Association, university professors, and industry magazine editors. These judges reviewed the applications received and evaluated nominated products for flexibility, potential, novelty and vendibility. The Best of Show Awards are designed to provide IT and network managers with information needed to shorten the evaluation process in assessing new products.
The IPSX 3500 delivers a full-range of sophisticated IP service capabilities -- including both IPSec and MPLS Virtual Private Networks (VPNs); Network Associates Gauntlet Firewalls; IP-Enabled Frame Relay, Frame Relay to IPSec Interworking and Frame Relay over IPSec; Secure DSL; Secure DSL to VPN; Secure Virtual LAN; URL filtering; virtual routed private networks and more. Service Providers can mix and match services on a customer-by-customer basis to meet enterprise requirements, provisioning them directly from the network edge.
