Applixware for Linux wants about 250 MB disk storage which may
not seem like much but on my system it is a big chunk of the
available user space. The "extra microseconds" is perhaps an inevitable consequence of running a graphics-intensive program through X-windows, versus the windows/dos interface which, by programming to
a less generalized notion of the hardware, is more responsive. I don't know how much CPU etc can kill the difference.
In any case my point is, the average person would not be
just as happy to use Applix Office over MS office. The other
products - packages that enterprises will pay real bucks to get - are what to look for in the earnings, IMO.

As for MRVC I don't think they pay Redhat to use linux, or to support it. They use Linux because it fits and the code is cheap.
