Thank you Scott for affirming a suspicion I've had all along. The digitalme/NetTop/i-chain product generation will drive the future of Novell. Sure that's a great cheerleading statement but I believe it.

I also believe there are many avenues Novell can take to promote their developing products. Partnering, alliances and (perhaps) merging are just some - what they really need to do is promote more development to NDS. Perhaps if Chris Stone could stand up and explain his position on the "developing for NDS market", it would ease the "fears" on Wall Street. Perhaps it could also spark some additional interest in creating applications for NDS as well :)

Also, when I look at the caching possibilities and some of your comments, I want to visualize a new meaning for convergence. Where streaming video/audio meets TV and the web is the new medium of transmission. Most of this becomes possible with (as you state) a global network of cache "stations" or caching clusters moving content closer to the end user. People do not understand exactly how the internet works so their frustration levels exceed their enthusiasm during content retrieval.

My only fear is that these stations become the equivalent to the MAEs or other connecting points (peer points) on the internet where networks meet and naturally create bottlenecks. If content can be distributed or a hierarchy of cache clusters can be developed, it would go a long way to solving some problems.

Sure in the future we may move away from the physical "wired" world into a wireless world but again, that's just part of the future. In the wireless world, these caching stations/clusters would be coupled with transmission stations allowing for better accessibility (perhaps).
