Friedman must be getting allot of grief from his cocktail party buddies for supporting the war to pen this diatribe.

What he neglects to mention is one of the reasons we have dedicated and able people serving in our military is because they believe in the leadership, they believe in the cause, and they believe we will win this battle against fascist terrorism despite Friedman's cynicism and critical harping. Repeating the "we are going it alone" mantra is simply intellectual dishonesty. The fact is we are not going it alone in Iraq, and we are not going it alone in Afghanistan.

As time passes, we're being given large clues as to why France and Russia did not support our efforts in Iraq. Money, pure and simple. It looks more and more like Saddham's cash paid for a degree of support from these nations. Cash can sometimes do that. And for Friedman to neglect to mention that in article after article while harping about our lack of allied support is another mark of dishonesty.

Lastly, Friedman wants utopia in the midst of war, every bombing is evidence of some failure here or there. There is no utopia and sucking the life blood out of more Americans by way of new taxes won't give us nirvana in Iraq. The money taxpayers earn can be better spent creating new jobs and new investments in America (especially needed after the economic hit we took on 9/11).
