Another thing to do is sell a cover call on a higher price or lower month than the call you already own, its a lot safer in case the price runs away. Eg.. I hold MUEI JAN 17 1/2 calls, I paid 2 1/2 for them, Today I placed a sell order on the JAN 22 1/2 calls for 2. But the price moves 1/4th since its 2 strikes off and the real price of the stock had to reach 19 1/2 for it to hit my sell opening covered call to hit, but I know that if the stock runs away I can still make some more money and if the price tanks again I buy it back for around 1.
You wont make as much if it runs away and you dont loose as much if it tanks, its the chicken way to do things.. But I have learnt that its better to be a chicken than a turkey..

ps I sold my jan 55 call for like 7 :), its worth what 14 or something now? Fear over rode greed there, kinda like wanting to go to the bathroom real bad.. Wanted to sell real bad..

good luck..
