Microsoft not releasing 4.0 now is a sign of strength, not weakness. If they were worried, they would rush out an incremental upgrade beta, and call the 97Q1 release version 5.0. After all, don't forget what Netscape 3.0 is ...Netscape 2.0 + Borland's JIT and a few plug-ins. Also, Microsoft now has the luxury to release stable betas. IE 3.0 beta 1 crashed when you double clicked on the address bar, when you ran any Java applet, etc. Netscape's early betas were not much different. Right now, I'm running the Mac 3.0 beta 1 and it's superb. Almost as good as the Win95 version...
