Anyone have an idea on what the Java ruling means to MSFT.
At this point it seems neutral to positive in my opinion. Neutral because the appeals court believes SUNW would win. Positive since it gives more freedom back to MSFT; whether they choose to excercise this choice in the near term is another matter.
However, i feel that the appeals court judges did not really want to make Judge Whtye look like an idiot and had decided to add the comment that SUNW is likely to prevail at trial on the grounds that MSFT violated a contract with them. I think there is a possible hidden message to Whtye that maybe you better think long and hard before giving a final ruling on the case.
Maybe it is more positive than neutral!!

Another positive is that MSFT's streak is alive at winning at the appeals court level.
