Could the guys selling those puts be regarded as being bearish too (but to a lessor extent)?

I mean if you were big, and there was a heavy demand for puts, why not sell some??

At least you would not be buying at the top if, well, the price went down significantly.

'course, if were really bearish you would short the stock first, the puts would give some upside protection, and make things handy on any ride down.
