Tokyo, July 6 (Bloomberg) -- Sanyo Electric Co. plans to sell beginning in either October or November a handset combining a mobile phone and portable audio player that can download a choice of some 2,000 music titles, the Asian Wall Street Journal reported, citing Toshiaki Hioki, a manager at Sanyo's Hypermedia Research Center near Nagoya. The product will be on sale with the logo, Keitai de Music, or Music on a Portable, which is the common logo of a technology consortium that also includes Fujitsu Ltd. and Hitachi Ltd. Users will be able to download songs from their phone provider's site on the Internet and store them on a stamp- sized memory card that fits the device, which uses the Personal Handy-phone System network, the paper said.
Sanyo is the world's biggest maker of batteries for mobile phones, producing about 40 percent of them.
