[ xDSL gets into mainstream ]

Perhaps this bodes well ???

ICS is a major equipment supplier to telecomm installations and other OEMs. While it's not exactly ADSL, their current catalog has an HDSL modem in it. I believe this is the first time ICS has offered any kind of xDSL equipment.
In the current issue of their "Telecommunications Source-Book" ICS (Industrial Computer Source) is advertising an HDSL modem for $2250. Their model is the Campus-T1 and the write-up explains it's based on the PairGain Copper-Optics HDSL solution. ICS advertises speed up to 1.544 Mbps at distances up to 5 miles/8 kilometers with a Campus-T1 "installed at each end of an unconditioned copper line". The item is at page 30 of their catalog ( 1998 Edition 1 ).
They'll fax you a copy of their item's specs.
Faxline is 1-800-677-7329.
The document number is 1611.
This is for general information only, I'm not advertising for them or touting their product or company. I don't work for them and have no affiliation with them, either direct or indirect.
