According to IEA (International Energy Agency) estimates, current fuel cell technologies cost $3,000 to $20,000 per kilowatt of power (there are roughly 1.35 horsepower in a kilowatt). Assuming a car needs around 100 kW of power to be roadworthy, that fuel cell would cost $300,000. A car with a 135 horsepower engine isn't exactly a Ferrari...
