The program used most often by the people that frequent this thread is Drive Image by Powerquest. Here's a link.

After a successful new install you would image the drive to cds. The number of cds you would use depends on the size of your os and the programs you install and the amount of compression you use. The image will span itself over as many cds as you need (I think). I have never used it so I would wait for comments from others. Norton's Ghost is another popular program for imaging drives.
