Two years ago, on NBR, when asked what their plan was when entering this line of busiess, the guy said that Sony brand was strong and that they should have no problems. They are using the same strategy for the HIFd drive and they won't get far, IMO.

The fact that they invented the floppy and the new drive carry's the Sony brand are meaningless. They need to offer something new in order to convince the 18 million installed base to switch to the new drive.
