charging for beta is a great idea. and if you're an investor in AAPL, I would think you'd be all for it. pressing the actual CD doesn't cost much, but put in all the S&H, etc. and it actually costs real $'s. i didn't see anywhere in the PR about it being available via download... but my guess is it's too cumbersome to be downloadable... i mean, it is an OS after all, not an app :-) to maintain their bottom line, it makes sense for Apple to charge what is necessary to at least cover their costs. my guess is the beta is pretty solid and rivals other OS's FCS release. heck, I'm thinking about buying one... and I don't even own a Mac <VBG>
