Ronald Reagan was a great president. The Russians (accurately) refered to him as Grandfather Reagan. Bill Clinton picked up a LOT from the Reagan political playbook. Sometimes it's disgusting to watch (hearing warmed over Patty Noonan speeches and the like). But, that was 20 years ago. This world is way beyond those years. Our economy is firing on 12 cylinders (well, at least the parts twister doesn't have equity in). You just can't compare 1980 or 1984 with 2000. It's a different planet! I think it's okay that we wont have a President this orbit with 'character'. Jeez, Jimmy Carter had character. How far did that get us? If we could be fortunate enough to have the Ronald Reagan quality leaders *when we need them, I don't think we can ask for much more. -- I think if we have a President with less character than we think we'd like, well then heck, maybe we'll just need to make it up elsewhere and show our kids 'character' a little closer to home and away from the TV. Yes? -JCJ
