Genesis 3
9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? 10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. 11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? 12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
I wonder if Adam knowing he was in trouble made this comment with attitude, not only blaming Eve but God as well for his own disobedience, along the lines of, "You gave her to me God so you are to blame! I remember when one of our children was perhaps 4 or 5 years old and got into trouble. It was apparent that they had been the offending party and when being instructed about telling the truth I had asked "You wouldn't want your sister to be punished for something that you did would you?" They tearfully responded "YES!" If we reject Christ we will not be able to shift the blame to anyone else. We will be without excuse. Right now however, we can shift the responsibility of our sin to Jesus. He took it to the cross with Him. Bearing our punishment freely and sparing us from what we deserve.
A Salvation Prayer
Lord I have sinned and I ask you to forgive me. I am willing to change and follow you. I believe that Jesus died for me and has risen again having taken the punishment for me. I ask you to be my Saviour and the Lord of my life. In Jesus name. |
