Well, I'm just reading this book on paper clay, and I'm thinking...hmmm... this stuff is supposed to be *really* strong and fairly light compared to regular clay. I'll read more about it and maybe it would even be a possibility, only that's A LOT of "making" to make the squares... I would be more inclined to do some kind of nice paving stone or something... I'm always pretty partial to unusual exposed aggregate in stone. Don't know about the wood as I'm not sure about how I would protect that wood from the elements... I'm trying to stay away from preserved woods these days as I don't think they are particularly good for the environment, especially around gardens... so that would lead me back to stone or aggregates, ceramics, or something along those lines.
