On June 23, 1999, I posted into this space(post#2232) a message calling Stephen M. Hicks and Mark Valentine "two pieces of scum" and stating that they should be put in jail for the "financial damage" they have caused companies like RTIN. My posting was a response to an earlier post(#2228) by Lee Walsh, which in turn reproduced an anonymous letter accusing Mr. Hicks, Mr. Valentine, and companies they are affiliated with, of illegal short selling and market manipulation schemes.

At the time that I posted the message, and in fact to the present day, I had and have no actual knowledge of any unlawful conduct by Mr. Hicks, Mr. Valentine or their companies. My posting was based solely on the earlier post by Lee Walsh and other, similar postings containing accusations and rumors of manipulation by these investors. When I saw those postings I assumed the rumors to be true and did not conduct any investigation into the facts themselves; nor did I look into the integrity of either the persons who were the source of the rumors or the persons who passed them along before posting my reaction.

I realize that by posting my message about Mr. Hicks and Mr. Valentine I may have further injured their reputations, personally and commercially, and I apologize to them for any harm that my statements may have caused.
