We are 5% of the World's population AND we are living beyond our means on credit given out by other countries. Where do you think are clothes are made? Where do you think our electronics come from?

China has a growth rate 3 times ours and a population 3 times ours. R&D and other professional service jobs are high tailing it offshore. It's not just minimum wage jobs or manufacturing jobs...it's the high-end work.

You and Bush are both living in the Cold War era where the US was the be all and the end all of everything. I still hear people says that the US is the last remaining superpower...by what measure?

We're BOGGED DOWN in a third-world country, decimated by 12 years of war and sanctions, less than 1/10th our size. That's a superpower?

Remember that your hero Bush and his minions Powell and Bremmer went to the UN BEGGING for help. Bush went belligerently but he went anyway and his message was very, very clear....HELP!

Why do we need help in Iraq? You tell me. We're huge, we're rich, we're powerful....why haven't we won decisively in Iraq?

The entire strength of the human species lies in our ability to organize for a common purpose. When we chuck that ability because of our belligerence, we lose.

If Bush had wanted to (he didn't) and tried (he didn't) to he could have gotten the old allies to stand up against Saddam and get him to leave....quietly. That's my view. We could have entered Iraq (even if we had no reason to...this is purely from a strategic standpoint), left the Baathists and the army in place and we might be seeing real elections about now.

The Iraqis, including many Baathists, were sick to death of Saddam and the sanctions that went with him. There were different options but Bush didn't consider any of them because he was intent on going to war.

Now we're paying for his stubborness.
