Cisco will NOT acquire WSTL/AMTX. John Chambers said that he prefers to acquire privately-held companies and only acquires already public companies in very rare instances. He said he prefers private, venture backed companies and avoids publicly-held companies whenever possible.

Since Cisco has already bought a small privately-held ADSL outfit, I would imagine that they are devoting resources to ADSL and gearing up.
