AAPL to open "direct sales" stores ; behind the "surprise" shortfall ? Part of the strategy ? Blame the dealers then open a store in their hood: ---- "Apple intends to open its own stores in some of the bigger U.S. cities, aiming particularly at the top five to 10 markets, the newspaper quoted several people who said Apple executives had briefed them on the plan over the past few months. The stores probably would carry minimal inventory and act primarily as a showcase for the company's computers, which likely would be shipped to customers' homes from a central facility, the newspaper reported. biz.yahoo.com ------ I seriously question the "surprise". Did they slow the new product channel fill with this store plan in mind ? It's why they are claming up until Oct. 18th. Jim K.
