I obviously don't know what the exact motives were. Sometimes two good outcomes occur with the same action. Back last summer I had heard from a colleague at a large investment bank that Anschutz was going to diversify his holdings. Who knows - diversification or to allow pooling of interest - which was the more important reason. I didn't see the info on his putting it into a trust so you could be right on. Don't think it matters much, the company is plowing ahead and doing well.
