I see these Alliances as a McDonalds MCD move....while Ameritrade gives away their services here in the States ETrade is out growing the rest of the World. I believe the plan is 25 Countries, isn't it?

MCD now accounts for most of it's growth and expansion outside the US. E-Trade might profit also from this move...ie no competitive barriers to expansion. Growth with less resistance.
